Sonshine Christian Preschool/Daycare provides a quality daycare and preschool experience for children from age 6 weeks through 12 Years Old, and is licensed in the state of Washington with the department of early learning. All staff have had background checks, have completed early childhood training courses, and are certified in First Aid and CPR.
Daycare is available from 6:30 AM until 6:00 PM and our preschool program runs Monday thru Friday, 9:00-12:00. We offer a scripture based curriculum as well as a theme that we study each month. Each of our classes use their own individualized curriculum selected by the class (Emergent Curriculum). Our classes build upon each other so that your child will be socially and emotionally prepared to enter kindergarten.
Preschool + Daycare Registration and Forms
Registration for preschool and daycare takes place during the month of March. Current students are given the opportunity to register before new students. There may be times throughout the year when places will open up in some of the classes. Be sure to contact the daycare to check for availability. You are welcome to fill out the registration packet and either mail, scan, and email, or bring it in person to the daycare.
Please be aware that there is a $100.00 registration fee that also needs to be paid in order to reserve your child’s place each year.
Special Classes and Activities

Each of our classes uses its own individualized curriculum based on its student’s current interests (Emergent Curriculum). The children involved in our preschool program will experience different “Special’s Classes” throughout the week.
Chapel
All of our students (Daycare and Elementary) attend chapel together. This gives them a chance to learn about God and the Bible through music and interactive stories.
Music
In music class, the students have the opportunity to explore their creative side as we sing, dance, and play instruments.
Library
Once a week our students attend Sonshine’s school library. Mrs. Johnson, (The Librarian) teaches the students the importance of reading and caring for books. She reads fun and interactive stories, and the children love trying to guess what is in her “mystery box” each week. The students are even allowed to check out books to be kept in their classrooms.
Cooking
Cooking is a time where our preschoolers can have the chance to create their own delicious snacks, and learn more about how the food we eat is made.

Our After-School Program is a unique experience for our school-age students. The program runs from 3pm (after-school) until 6pm. Our wonderful School Age Teacher picks up our Sacajawea (located across the street from Sonshine) students every day. They are provided snack upon arrival to the center. The students use engaging and interactive curriculum that incorporates learning new things about the world around them, as well as the importance of God. The students participate in Arts, Reading, and Science in an exciting and fun way after a long day at school. We also provide a time for homework and/ or personal reading. This includes any help from the teacher the students may need.
On No School Days we provide full day care. We follow both Sonshine Elementary and the Vancouver School District’s schedule.
Occasionally on these days our School-Agers have the opportunity to go on educational and fun field trips in our community.
